Winter Art Happenings...

Well December flew by at an alarming rate in the art room as it does! We created some pretty clever projects from shaded snowmen in kindergarten to woven "eye of God" ornaments in grades 2-5.
Here are some examples of our winter at creations.... Enjoy!

Art club canvas painting above by 6th grader Flynn. We studied Chuck Close's grid method before measuring our squares and using a warm color vs cool color scheme to create contrast. It turned out gorgeous! Great job Flynn!

Another art club entry this time by artist Jessica in 5th grade. Our winter cardinals turned out great! We used acrylic paint on gesso boards, a pretty solid flat surface to paint on using lots of texture!

I really enjoyed this weaving project with the kids! It reiterated pattern and radial repetition, but most of all was a very colorful and relaxing lesson! More weavings to come in January with dreams catchers and some "yarn bombing" around the school. 😉

These snowman examples are from kindergarten and 1st grade. How incredibly cute are they?! More to come in the new Year as we explore some Native American art and create dream catchers in grades 2-7.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
